The hip-hop  song was written by Brown, Diplo, Jean Baptiste, Ryan Buendia, Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes.The Production credits are shared between Diplo and Afrojack. these song  also features guest vocal performances from American rappers Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes. The song was released as a digital download from February 1, 2011, serving as the second single from F.A.M.E..

Critics gave the song mixed reviews, praising Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes' appearances, but also criticizing Brown's skills at rapping. "Look at Me Now" was successful in the United States, reaching number six on the Billboard Hot 100, and topping the Rap Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. It has also charted in Australia, Canada, France and the United Kingdom. An accompanying music video, directed by Colin Tilley, leaked online on March 9, 2011. It features Brown, Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes in a graffitied parking garage, and includes scenes of a dance-battle. American artists Da Brat and Trey Songz, have released their own remix to the song. It has also been covered by Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber.
